The management of the Soundstorm Festival 2023, which is organized by MDL Best, a leading Saudi company in the music entertainment sector, has prepared a solid plan to ensure safety and security and provide an exceptional experience for the festival’s goers, the activities of its fourth edition being held in the Benban area in the capital, Riyadh, from December 14 to 16, with the participation of regarding 200 local, regional and international artists.
The plan includes many security measures and logistical arrangements, whether at the festival site or outside it, which ensure the achievement of safety and security to a degree exceeding the standards applied in international festivals, and its implementation is supervised by more than 350 local and international supervisors with distinguished experience in controlling security and safety and managing crowds. The festival will receive more than 150,000 visitors daily who will attend the shows that will be presented across 8 theaters, the largest of which will have a capacity of 100,000 people.
Once the patrons arrive at the parking lot, which can accommodate up to 86,000 cars, trained crews will be waiting for them to guide them to enter through 4 secured gates, where an integrated system is available to facilitate movement within the festival site, which has an area of 1.2 million square metres. More than 2,000 security employees are spread throughout the site, in addition to more than 350 security men working outside hours to ensure the safety of attendees. More than 200 360-degree surveillance cameras cover all parts of the festival.
The measures aim to ensure the protection of the public and ensure their safety in and around the festival site, smooth entry and movement within the festival site, provide immediate support and response, deal without tolerance with any violator of the festival’s laws and MDL Best policy, and prevent any violator of the Kingdom’s laws.
The Soundstorm Festival administration has allocated 5 centers for the “Respect” program crews, staffed by 56 supervisors of the program, which is committed to creating a safer and more respectful musical entertainment environment, with principles that preserve the safety of everyone, within the framework of MDL Best’s policy, in accordance with the program’s code of conduct. The program’s procedures in this year’s edition of the festival include warning violators and recording their data before their behavior reaches the point that requires their removal from the festival.
The measures also include prohibiting covering the face except for religious considerations, and insulting others with any insinuations or words, while maintaining privacy and preventing photographing others without their consent. It also prohibits the circulation or use of contraband, such as weapons, illegal materials, fireworks, laser pens, drones, sticks, whistles, and trumpets.
The procedures implemented include providing a scanner to report violations in various locations, theaters and corridors, in addition to the availability of 4 evacuation centers to expel any violators in coordination with the security authorities.
The procedures also include integrated plans to confront emergencies and provide medical assistance if necessary through medical teams working through 8 first aid centers spread across the festival site and equipped with more than 20 ambulances.
The festival management also prepared a communications plan that allows patrons to find the necessary information, communicate their comments, and request assistance, whether through the MDL Best app, the “Ehtimam” program, information points, or any of the festival’s employees.
