Finnish telecom equipment giant Nokia on Thursday announced a 37% drop in net profit in the second quarter. The fall reflects the slowdown in the main market for the construction of 5G networks.
Between April and June, Nokia recorded a net profit of 289 million euros, compared to 460 million euros in the second quarter of 2022, according to its quarterly report. The group’s turnover remained rather stable: the group reported a drop of almost 3% in turnover to 5.7 billion euros.
“Through careful management of our costs, we were able to deliver a strong comparable operating margin…despite headwinds from our” mobile networks business, CEO Pekka Lundmark said in a statement. notes a ‘significant drop’ in investment by operators in North America.
Around 08:00 on the Helsinki Stock Exchange, the Nokia title took 0.56% to 3.53 euros.
Last week, the equipment manufacturer issued a profit warning, lowering its sales and operating margin forecasts for 2023. The group is engaged in a major battle to install 5G networks around the world, with its main competitors, Ericsson and the Chinese giant Huawei.
Its Swedish competitor Ericsson also fell into the red in the second quarter, in particular because of the decline in its network activity, particularly in North America. Ericsson and Nokia, which dominate the global 5G market with the Chinese giant Huawei, had warned in recent months of the slowdown in investment by their customers, the mobile operators, due to the global economic deterioration.
The two European groups have long suffered from the emergence of Huawei on their markets, but have benefited for several years from the restrictive measures taken once morest the Chinese giant by several Western countries, the United States in the lead.

Rahma Ramadan wrote Thursday, July 20, 2023 11:45 AM Dr. Muhammad Shaker confirmed, Minister of Electricity And renewable energy, the only solution currently to get out of the crisis of outages resulting from load mitigation is to rationalize electricity consumption to reduce pressure on the gas network until it returns in a strong way.
Shaker added, in exclusive statements to “The Seventh Day”, that rationalizing consumption is necessary and inevitable during these days to contribute to reducing the hours of outages resulting from lightening loads due to the lack of fuel, saying, “I turned off the air conditioning in my house to contribute to reducing pressure on the network.”
Shaker added that loads are expected to decrease during the next 3 days due to the official holiday until next Sunday, which will contribute to reducing electricity consumption and thus reducing pressure on the gas network.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, confirmed during the government meeting that was held today, that it started two days ago to reduce electricity loads, as a result of the severe heat wave that we are currently witnessing, and the significant increase in electrical energy consumption, which was also reflected in the increase in the volume of consumption. The gas used in the production of electricity, and severe pressure on its networks, which led to a decrease in gas pressures in the networks connected to the power stations.
And the Prime Minister continued: With the decrease in these pressures, it was started two days ago to reduce the loads, so that the normal pressures of the gas network can be reached, pointing to continuing to reduce the loads alternately, until the middle of next week, so that the network regains its pressure from the gas, explaining that the sharp rise in degrees The heat caused significant effects on a number of different countries, saying: “We are currently in a period of temporary load easing until the network restores normal pressures.”

Alzheimer’s disease usually affects people who are 65 years of age or older, however, it can occur in people as early as their 30s, 40s or 50s. This is called early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. This kind of effect Alzheimer’s disease Less than 10% of all people with this condition, according to what was published by webmd
Because doctors don’t always look for signs of Alzheimer’s disease in younger adults, it can take a long time to get a diagnosis. Early-onset Alzheimer’s symptoms depend on the stage of the disease. Early signs can include mild memory loss and difficulty concentrating or finishing daily tasks. It can be difficult to find the right words, and you may lose sense of time.
Some studies have found that certain changes in vision and eye conditions can indicate early-stage Alzheimer’s disease for people in their 50s and older.
People with a family history of Alzheimer’s disease are more likely to develop this condition. There are many rare genes that collectively cause groups of cases in some families. People with a family history of Alzheimer’s disease should talk to their doctor.
Alzheimer’s disease prevention
Just as there is no known cure for Alzheimer’s disease, there are no foolproof preventative measures right now, health-promoting lifestyle habits are the best tools we have for preventing cognitive decline.
The following steps may help:
Try to quit smoking. If you smoke, quitting benefits your health both immediately and in the long term.
Exercise regularly. Physical activity reduces the risk of many conditions, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Keep your mind active. Try some cognitive exercises.
You eat a healthy diet. Eat a well-balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables.
Maintain an active social life. Friendships, volunteer work, and hobbies are likely to benefit your overall health.
Be sure to talk to your doctor before making any major lifestyle changes.
