After a strong start to the season with bronze at the Lanzarote International Regatta in mid-February, Keanu Prettner and Jakob Flachberger clearly missed their high goal at the top fielded “French Olympic Week” in Hyères. After narrowly missing out on promotion to the gold fleet, things did not go according to plan in the silver fleet either (especially on the final day). The 49er duo from Lake Wolfgang lost four places at the end and only ended up in 31st place in the final classification.
Cancellation cost the last chance
“We made too many mistakes, especially in qualifying in strong winds. But we know where our potential lies and how we can control it,” summarized helmsman Prettner. “We definitely have to improve for the next competitions, the current results are not acceptable.” The problems began on the first day of the competition when, following a good start, the duo capsized in high waves with places twelve and seven and thus immediately lost their result.
