A man confronted a thief who attacked him with a knife in Trelew

A father confronted a thief armed with a knife to protect his son during an assault at the door of his house in the city of Trelew, province of Chubut. The attack was recorded by the location’s security cameras. This Thursday, the criminal was arrested.

It all started last Saturday night, around 8:30 p.m. A young man had arrived at his home located on Miter Street and was regarding to put his car into the garage. At that moment, he was surprised by the assailant who, while threatening him with the knife, began shaking his arm, demanding that he get down. The victim did not resist. He raised his hands and got out of the vehicle.

The young man’s father, who was inside the property, realized the situation following hearing his dog barking and, upon leaving, he quickly interceded to defend his son. The images show that he confronted the attacker, who tried to stab him twice.

The sequence ended with the victims taking shelter inside their house with the pet and with the thief fleeing, without completing the robbery.

In the following days, the Chubut Police, through the Trelew Investigations Division, identified a suspect and finally arrested him on Thursday morning. This is a 30-year-old criminal from the town of Dolavon – in the department of Gaiman – where he worked as a waste collector. Sources in the case reported that he has a criminal record.

As stated by the police force, the detainee was previously involved in a case of automobile theft regarding an act committed in the city of Rawson. Now, he is accused in a file of “robbery aggravated by the attempted use of a knife”, in relation to two facts: in addition to the attack on the father and son, last Saturday there was another attempted robbery with similar characteristics and in the course of less than an hour. For the investigators, in both episodes it was the same author.

The film records were key to locating the suspect. This morning, around 7 o’clock, four raids were carried out at the attacker’s house and three other homes belonging to his relatives. The operation was coordinated by the Special Police Operations Group (GEOP) and Scientific Police personnel, and had the collaboration of officers from the Dolavon Police Station.

As part of the raids, agents of the provincial security force seized various elements of interest to the case.

The governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, stated in his account in X following the arrest: “There is no more place for criminals in Chubut. This morning in Dolavon, raids were carried out and the criminal who attacked a neighbor and his son with a knife just a few days ago in Trelew was arrested.

The man’s attitude is reminiscent of the case of the employee of an ice cream parlor in Rosario who beat up a thief who entered the premises to steal from 2400 Rondeau Boulevard.

“If you did it once, you’re going to do it once more,” the woman is heard saying in the video that was recorded by the security cameras.

It was the employee who was located to the side who noticed what was happening. Without hesitation, she chased following the thief and jumped on him. At the door of the establishment, she hit him repeatedly, while the customers escaped. Immediately, the cashier took her phone to call 911.

“Stop,” pleaded the thief who was receiving an endless beating. By then, the cashier had already closed the doors of the business to prevent his escape. Once the employee stopped hitting him, the suspect tried to convince her to let him run away.

The Santa Fe Police arrived at the scene and arrested him. When they seized his weapon, they found that it was a plastic replica wrapped with tape to disguise it.
