Former Republic of Ireland footballer Colin Healy has set his family home in Rylane, County Cork, on the market for €495,000, as he prepares to relocate closer to his roots in Ballincollig.
The property, located at No. 4 Meadowfields in a quiet cul-de-sac, boasts almost 2,500 sq ft of living space, including four bedrooms – two ensuite – and two reception rooms. Barry Auctioneers are handling the sale, noting the home’s spacious layout and sizable side lawns.
Healy, who began his professional career with Celtic in 1998, purchased the property in 2007, during the height of the Celtic Tiger property boom, according to auctioneer Joe McCarthy. Healy’s career included spells with Sunderland, Livingston, Barnsley, Ipswich Town, and a second stint with Cork City, alongside 13 senior international appearances for the Republic of Ireland.
The move comes as Healy embarks on a fresh chapter as manager of Kerry FC, requiring a 90-minute commute to Mounthawk Park in Tralee. Previously, he managed Cork City from 2020 until 2023, and served as an assistant coach with the Republic of Ireland women’s national team under Eileen Gleeson from 2023 to 2024.
The property’s B2 energy rating qualifies potential buyers for green mortgage rates. McCarthy reports interest from families in Ballincollig, Blarney, Macroom, and Cork city, seeking a larger home in a rural setting with convenient access to urban areas. Blarney and Macroom are approximately a 15-minute drive away, while Cork city is around 35 minutes.
Healy represented the Republic of Ireland at youth level, earning 13 caps for the senior team and scoring one goal. He began his senior career at Celtic, where he spent five years before moving to Sunderland in 2003.
