Webster University and St. Louis Community College (STLCC) have expanded their partnership to include eight new academic pathways, streamlining the transfer process for students pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The move reflects a broader effort by Webster to accommodate the increasing number of students beginning their higher education at community colleges.
The latest additions build upon an initial agreement established last year, which focused on four transfer paths within the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts. With today’s announcement, the total number of available transfer options for STLCC students now reaches 27, encompassing programs across the School of Communications and other academic areas.
“These agreements will make it easier for community college students to seamlessly transfer into a four-year undergraduate program, and two of those programs will allow the students to continue into a master’s program and finish the graduate degree within 12 months,” said Thao Dang-Williams, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Webster University. “these articulation agreements will meet the students where they are now, letting them set their own educational paths while saving thousands of dollars.”
Under the new agreement, students enrolled in STLCC’s Associate of Arts in General Transfer Studies can now transfer up to 64 credit hours into the following Webster University programs: Bachelor of Arts in Interactive Digital Media, Bachelor of Arts in Media Production, a combined Bachelor of Arts in Media Production and Master of Arts in Strategic Communications, Bachelor of Arts in Sports Communications, a combined Bachelor of Arts in Sports Communications and Master of Arts in Strategic Communications, Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Strategic Communications, Bachelor of Arts in Animation, and Bachelor of Arts in Film, Video and Television Production.
These new pathways complement existing transfer agreements with other institutions. Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) students can transfer into Webster’s business administration or legal studies programs, potentially saving on tuition costs. A unique dual-degree program allows students at the Goldfarb School of Nursing and Webster biology students to simultaneously earn a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Similarly, biology students can pursue a combined bachelor’s degree at Webster and a doctorate in Pharmacy at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, shortening their overall time to completion and reducing tuition expenses.
Webster University as well maintains multiple agreements with Jefferson College, facilitating transfers for biology students into Webster’s biology program, digital communications students into media studies, integrated strategic communications, and media production programs, and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) nursing students into Webster’s nursing program to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Students from Johnson County Community College’s game development program can transfer into Webster’s games and game design program.
