Vienna (OTS) – The federal states have understood why the universities of applied sciences in Austria need to be strengthened! The Landesreferet:innen-Konferenz (LFTK) reacted last Friday to the difficult financial situation of the universities of applied sciences with a clear resolution. You passed a ball to HBM Polaschek, but he now has to pick it up. In their decision, the state finance officers demanded compensation from the federal government for the inflation caused by the current crises with the associated rising personnel and energy costs. An increase in the funding rates for FH study places by 20 percent from January 2024 is required. In addition, to ensure the quality of teaching and to expand applied research at universities of applied sciences, sustainable, competitive research funding of around 25 million euros per year is required. The state finance officers are thus following the long-standing demands of the FHK, the umbrella organization of Austrian universities of applied sciences, which in recent months has repeatedly pointed out to HBM Polaschek the threatening situation of the universities of applied sciences.
“It makes me positive that we can count on the support of the federal states compared to the federal government. The federal states know and appreciate that the universities of applied sciences play a key role in the regional added value of our state. HBM Polaschek would be well advised to comply with these demands from the federal states and to financially and structurally secure the universities of applied sciences in teaching and research,” says FHK President Ulrike Prommer.

On the 78th anniversary of Nazi Germany’s surrender in World War II, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy predicted a similar defeat for Russia in the war once morest his country. “And all the old evils that modern Russia is bringing back will be smashed just like Nazism was smashed,” Zelenskyy said in a speech on Monday.
“We do not yet know the date of our victory, but we do know that this will be a celebration for all of Ukraine, for all of Europe, for all of the free world,” said the Ukrainian President. At the same time, Zelenskyi presented a draft law that would officially move the commemoration of the German capitulation to May 8th. In doing so, Ukraine is distancing itself from Soviet tradition – and from war opponent Russia, where “Victory Day” is not celebrated until May 9th.
In the future, Ukraine should commemorate the victims of the Second World War together with the “free world”, said Zelenskyj. He also commemorated the eight million Ukrainians who were killed in 1939-45. At the same time he signed a decree according to which in future May 9th should be celebrated in Ukraine – as in the European Union – as Europe Day.
After the World War that Germany had started, the Wehrmacht capitulated on May 8, 1945 to the allies of the Soviet Union, the USA, Great Britain and France. Because the nightly signing of the surrender instrument fell on May 9, Moscow time, Victory Day is traditionally celebrated on this day in Russia and many other post-Soviet states.
The Roman Catholic Bishop of Kiev, Vitaly Kryvitsky, assumes that the effects of the war in Ukraine will “keep people in suspense for many years to come”. “We are fighting once morest the anger and hate that has come over us from outside and we are doing everything we can to prevent it from taking root in our hearts, inside,” the bishop told Vatican News, according to Kathpress. (Sunday). For him, the most important current task of the church is “not to let the people perish in the war”.

Any baby’s first birthday is always special. and, in general, the decoration, balloons and gifts are everywhere. Candie and her husband prepared the cake for her sweet diapered son, but everything went wrong when one of them decided to pull a ‘prank’: she was left crying because of what her husband did. This case caused outrage in the United States and thousands of people described it as an “irresponsible act.”
The moment was viralized on TikTok, and it is that the father of the family might not bear that his son was unable to break the cake as he expected. In a fit, the man grabbed the big cake and did the unthinkable: smashed it into his wife’s face. This moment earned him close to 5 million views and thousands of comments that were sensitive to Candie.
The 40-year-old woman did not expect her husband to have the nerve to throw the cake in her face, although playfully, the act was totally embarrassing: “she wanted to strangle (her husband)”, said the woman following revealing how her creature’s birthday was spoiled with a single action.
In fact, her husband was already beginning to stress when he saw that his son might not do the ‘honors’ with the cake: this was a ‘smash cake’ made especially for children to dig inside and end up smeared with candy. After encouragement and some applause, the adult mightn’t take it anymore and decided to do what was defined as a punishable act.

“I cried like a baby for the lost memories. They even cut the cake while I was taking a shower (…) If he does this once more, he won’t live to talk regarding it.”she said of the embarrassing moment on tape.
In just fractions of seconds, Candi’s husband had already ruined the name day and was labeled a ‘bad father’ on the Internet: “We didn’t get but one photo before I had to shower. I’m not sure why she thought this was a good idea.”added she, who is now waiting for another birthday to see if they can do things right this time.
“Seriously speaking, there is no crime for what this man did. The great punishment is if he had done it to the baby ”Said a curious person between the comments.
“They say that a reprehensible act? I see it as a practical joke, but it’s not that bad. They look more like a happy family.” says another person.
