Catoca seeks innovative solutions with universities – news

Sociedade Mineira de Catoca recently held the 1st Technical-Scientific Conference of Catoca, with the aim of deeply analyzing critical issues in the mining production process and developing proposals for solutions that can be applied in mining societies. With a view to establishing a marriage between technique, derived from more than 28 years of experience, with the knowledge produced by academia, in order to develop knowledge, products and innovative services together, capable of contributing to the continuous improvement of PUB processes linked to mining, that company was prepared to hold such an event.

According to a note that reached the newspaper OPAÍS, this event reflects the vision of Sociedade Mineira de Catoca with the perspective of continuing to be a catalytic agent for the country’s economic and social development. According to the general director of the aforementioned Minas Gerais company, Benedito Manuel, this conference represents an opportunity to share ideas about concrete problems, particularly identified in the operation of the Catoca mine, with a view to developing proposals for solutions derived from this partnership between technique and academia.

“This conference is presented as preparation for the holding of the Technical-Scientific Conferences that we will be holding from next year onwards, an engagement that reflects our commitment to an increasingly close relationship with academia, so that together we can pursue the path to optimizing processes, through continuous improvement actions”, he highlighted. The world’s large companies, especially companies in the industrial sector, are necessarily associated with academia, investing in scientific research projects to develop new solutions, products and services, according to the person responsible.

The event, which took place at Vila Residencial de Catoca, in Lunda Sul, and at the Headquarters in Luanda, simultaneously, was attended by senior company officials and academics, representing the Agostinho Neto University, Lueji A’ University Nkonde, Instituto Superior Metropolitano de Angola – IMETRO and Instituto Politécnico Lusíadas da Lunda Sul.
