the Center for Disease Control Yesterday published a study that Convention Anime NYC 2021 It was not a great event, although one of the first known people in the United States to contract the Omicron variant of the coronavirus was present. But it wasn’t all luck – the event featured several measures to reduce contagion, meaning it could be used as a model for other fan conventions. In the future.

The reason Anime NYC was suspected of being super ubiquitous (even supposed to be, you might say) is that Omicron is significantly more contagious than previous iterations of covid-19, and over 53,000 fans of anime attended Monopoly I live in New York City at the Javits Center. The CDC says “good air filtration, widespread vaccination, and indoor concealment” have helped reduce the spread of the virus. Additionally, Anime NYC required attendees to receive at least one dose of vaccine, while the convention center used HEPA filters for ventilation.

according to Le New York TimesThe CDC said, “The share of testing turnout that came back positive was similar to the share of coronavirus tests that tested positive in New York around the same time. Also, the few positive samples that were genetically sequenced were roughly Grand of the Delta variant, not Omicron. Conference attendees who were infected were more likely than those who tested negative to go to bars, nightclubs or karaoke clubs.

However, don’t pack your bags for San Diego Comic-Con just yet. There are still many additional factors that may reduce infection rates. For example, the CDC reports that if Omicron had been more prevalent in the city at the time, things probably wouldn’t be going well. And, of course, Omicron is now much more widespread throughout the country.

However, this does mean that Anime NYC could serve as a model for other conventions to follow in the future so that relatively large groups of fans come together and celebrate comics, anime, games and more in a relative security. Obviously, there’s no timetable on the horizon, as 160,000 people will soon be crowding the San Diego Convention Center, but man, it’ll be nice to hang out with some personally obsessed friends.
