Violation of the ceasefire agreement in Ain al-Hilweh camp in southern Lebanon

A violation of the ceasefire agreement was recorded in the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon, where the sound of a shell and bursts of gunfire were heard on the Hattin-Jabal al-Halib axis.

Eyewitnesses reported to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that they heard the sounds of gunshots and shells in the Hittin neighborhood, after a rumor spread of the death of one of the wounded in previous clashes.

On Thursday evening, a new ceasefire entered into force in Ain al-Hilweh camp, where 17 people were killed and about 100 others injured during a week of confrontations.

Member of the Hamas Political Bureau, Musa Abu Marzouk, said, via the “X” platform, that the ceasefire agreement in the Ain al-Hilweh camp has begun, expressing his thanks to “Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, for his efforts and directives to spare Palestinian blood, and to work on Refugees return to the camp. He added: “We will not let him down with our commitments to the camp’s security, achieving justice, serving our people, and healing their wounds.”

Earlier today, Thursday, the media office of the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament announced, following separate talks with Azzam Al-Ahmad, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement, and Musa Abu Marzouk, a member of the Political Bureau of Hamas, that a ceasefire agreement had been reached in Ain al-Hilweh camp, starting at six in the evening on the same day (15:00 GMT).

Clashes renewed last Thursday between the Fatah movement and an armed group calling itself “Muslim Youth,” and led to the killing of 17 people and the wounding of about a hundred others, according to Imad Hallaq, an official in the Palestinian Red Crescent in Lebanon.

At the end of July and the beginning of August, similar clashes resulted in the killing of 14 people, including the commander of the Palestinian National Security in the Sidon region and the leader of the Fatah movement, Brigadier General Abu Ashraf Al-Armushi, with 4 of his companions. They continued for five days before they calmed down after a series of communications. Between Palestinian factions, Lebanese officials and parties.
