CEB Celebration: Uniting Lasne’s 6th Primary School Children

2023-07-02 17:43:00

About 180 children finishing their 6th primary responded to this invitation from the Commune. When you arrive this Friday at the Maransart Sports Center, the music resounds, the children form happy bands everywhere: outside for great discussions; at the bar, where they are served by three members of the municipal team, including the alderwoman for Culture and Youth, Julie Peeters; at the entrance, to immortalize the moment thanks to the photo terminal; or on the dance floor to vibrate to the sound of music.

This is already the 3rd edition (with a two-year interruption due to Covid), Julie Peeters reminds: “It’s a project of the municipal children’s council which wanted to have a party with all the children of Lasne… But all the children, it was a bit much… So, we limited ourselves to schoolchildren who finish their 6th primary. The timing is well thought out. The objective is to celebrate the end of the CEB (certificate of basic studies) – not yet the success because the results will not be known until this Monday – and to allow the children to meet, to establish links here, in the common.

If you ask a few children who wander around you what they think of this initiative, Jade, who is part of the municipal children’s council, will thank her predecessors: “It was a very good idea! We meet people we don’t necessarily know”. Mila continues: “It’s very nice because we also found children we had met during snow classes”.

Beautiful encounters or beautiful reunions, then! The opinion is unanimous! But will they keep in touch? Alix replies: “Yes, really because there are a lot of them that I liked. We were able to make a lot of friendships that we can never undo!”

Words illustrated by the festive atmosphere that inhabits the dance floor while the children are unleashed on I’ll be there for you Rembrandts, credits to the famous and timeless series Friends.
