Ceferin considers the Negreira case “extremely serious”

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin reacted on Monday in the pages of the Slovenian sports daily Team, to the Negreira case. This has shaken Spanish football since last February and the revelations that FC Barcelona allegedly corrupted a former vice-president of referees, Maria Enriquez Negreira, between 2001 and 2018, paying him 7.3 million, via his company Dasnil.

“Of course, I cannot comment directly on this for two reasons. First, because we have an independent disciplinary commission. And second, because I haven’t covered this case in detail. However, I can say something. As far as I know, the situation is extremely serious. So serious that it is, in my opinion, one of the most serious in football since I have been involved in it. At Spanish league level, of course, the case is time-barred. And cannot have competitive consequences, while the procedure is underway at the level of the Spanish Civil Prosecutor’s Office”reacted the president of UEFA.
