“There are some who have lost hope because it is a disease that is not known… She works hard, but she has lost control of her muscles,” Claudette Dion revealed the details regarding the state of health of her sister Celine Dion, 55 years ago, who just a year ago announced that he suffered from stiff person syndrome, a condition that affects the central nervous system.

The 75-year-old singer also explained, in the interview with the Canadian media 7 Jours, that the rigid person syndrome is a poorly studied disease and that only one person in a million suffers from it, which makes the process more worrying.

“In our dreams, the idea is to return to the stage. In what state? We don’t know. The vocal cords are muscles and the heart is also a muscle. This is what worries me the most. And since it is a case between million, scientists haven’t done much research,” he said.

The condition involves progressive muscle stiffness. It mainly affects the hips and extremities, and causes spasms in the patient.

It also prevents the artist from using her vocal cords.

It was on December 8, 2022 that Celine Dion announced that she would postpone her tour, scheduled for February 2023, due to a “very rare neurological problem.”
