Central approval for Angamaly-Kundannur bypass; Preliminary alignment is complete, angamaly

Kochi: Central approval for Angamaly-Kundannur bypass. The project is envisioned as part of improving traffic in major cities. The bypass, which starts as a continuation of National Highway 544, will pass through Aluva, Kunnathunad and Kanayannur taluks. Primary alignment of the bypass is complete.

The primary objective of the project is to decongest National Highway 66 from Edappally to Arur. The proposed Bepass will pass within 10 km of the existing National Highway. Bepas passes through 17 villages. The bypass will be constructed as a greenfield road under the central government’s Bharat Mala scheme.

The preliminary alignment of the bypass has been completed with the help of a private agency. National Highway 66 Special Deputy Collector Padmachandra Kurup said that the 3A notification will be published following the survey numbers are checked following the information is handed over to the revenue department. The expected length of the National Highway is 50 km.
