The Supreme Court of Chad definitively validated, on Thursday, the results of the referendum for the new Constitution, organized on December 17.
On Monday, the Chadian Commission responsible for organizing the constitutional referendum announced the approval of the new Constitution with 86% of the votes.
According to the final results, the “yes” won with 85.90% of the votes while the “no” obtained 14.10% of the votes with a participation rate which amounted to 62.8%, indicated the President of the Supreme Court during a press conference.
The Supreme Court rejected the appeal of the federal bloc, an opposition coalition which had requested the annulment of the results “due to several irregularities in the conduct of the vote”.
