The Piana Expansion is a new free update available on Steam, PlayStation 5 & 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, as well as the Epic Games Store. This new map follows the free expansion Caporetto.
Monte Piana is a high altitude battle between two peaks close to each other. The Italian and Austro-Hungarian lines faced each other for a short distance, in an uneasy stalemate. This stalemate was broken by a fierce Austro-Hungarian offensive which seized the two key plateaus and nearly drove the Italians off the mountain. However, they failed to complete the job and the Italians planned a daring counterattack – this is where the battle begins at the Isonzo.
Historically, the Italian offensive failed: the Italians regained ground but could not completely defeat the Austro-Hungarians. During the next two years, Monte Piana saw little movement. Isonzo’s new map gives players the chance to change history, with a decisive Italian or Austro-Hungarian victory.
During the rest of the week, the WW1 series of games are on sale: the different editions of Isonzo have price reductions ranging from 40% to 55%. DLCs are also included in the sales: Royal, Elite, Alpine, Reserve and Veteran Unit Packs are available at a 30% discount, and the Expedition Unit Pack is discounted by 10%. Verdun and Tannenberg are now on sale at a historic low of 80%.
