The philanthropic Challenge of Generations movement was launched on Monday to raise $1 million in support of Quebec hospitals.
About fifteen hospital foundations, including the Fondation du CHUM, across nine regions of Quebec are taking part until September 23 in this Generation Challenge fundraiser to support hospitals.
This pan-Quebec solidarity event is more prosaically part of a broader desire to transform health care and make the network more efficient, according to the hospital foundations.
Spokesperson Josée Lavigueur invites citizens to choose a way to surpass themselves in these challenges, which may or may not be sporting, while soliciting those around them to collect donations through an online platform.
No matter how they choose to surpass themselves, the participants will only help hospitals near them to meet their most urgent needs, according to the initiators of this project.
“This year is marked by major changes for the health network. We continue to deploy the vision of the Health Plan for a more humane and efficient health and social services network,” said Christian Dubé, Minister of Health.
