Bayern – Barcelona (21 hours)

Former Bayern goalscorer Robert Lewandowski returns to the Fußball Arena München. He just scored a hat-trick in the big win 5-1 over Viktoria Plzeň. The reigning German champions have won their last four matches against Barca. They scored 17 goals in those encounters, with four of those goals having been scored by Lewandowski himself. Will the Polish striker manage to turn the tide? Julian Nagelsmann’s men, victorious over the Inter pitchdo not hear it that way.

Bayern are unbeaten at home to Barcelona in European competition. The Bavarians have won four matches and drawn two in their last six meetings in Munich.

Marseilles – Frankfurt (21 hours)

Frankfurt lost to home against Sporting but this does not affect the enthusiasm of his fans for a competition in which they participate for the first time. The Eagles will try to repeat the performance achieved during their last visit to the Vélodrome. It was in the Europa League 2018/19, and Frankfurt had beat Marseille 2-1 before going to the semi-finals. As for the hosts, they have lost 2-0 on the lawn of Tottenham opening Group D.

Oliver Glasner’s Frankfurt won five of their six away matches in their Europa League-winning campaign last term, winning a brilliant 3-2 success against Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Sporting CP – Tottenham (18h45)

Both teams will try to ride the wave of their opening victories on Frankfurt et Marseille respectively. Sporting shone last season reaching the knockout stage for the first time in 13 years, while Tottenham have done so in three of their last five Champions League seasons. The winning team of this meeting would take another step towards qualification.

Real Madrid – Leipzig (21 hours)

“Our first half could really have been better, but we had a perfect second half. These are the words of Carlo Ancelotti after the title holders’ victory 3-0 at Celtic, a result that launched them perfectly before this trip to Leipzig. In the opposite camp, Domenico Tedesco was relieved of his duties on the bench after the surprise home loss to Shakhtar. “We dominated, but we fished on our last passes and we conceded stupid goals,” said midfielder Konrad Laimer. We will have to avoid this kind of situation in Spain.

Did you know ?
Madrid’s first home game last season ended in an earthquake, as the Sheriff, champion of Moldova, had won 2-1.

Man City – Dortmund (21 hours)

Hard to believe that some people doubted Erling Haaland’s ability to score as many goals for City as Dortmund. The Norwegian opened his counter by scoring a double against Sevilla during the first day. “He has an incredible sense of goal,” said Pep Guardiola of him. BVB fans, of course, know this well. He scored 86 goals in 89 appearances for their side in the space of two and a half seasons.

Did you know ?
The teams had faced each other in the quarter-finals of the 2020/21 Champions League. Guardiola’s City won 2-1 home et outside.

Maccabi Haifa – Paris (21 hours)

In the first round of the 1998/99 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, Maccabi Haifa eliminated Paris coached by Alain Giresse (3-2 success in Israel then a 1-1 draw at the Parc des Princes). It seems unlikely that this will happen again more than 24 years later as Paris has been transformed in recent years. The Parisians beat Juventus 2-1 on matchday one. However, Frantzdy Pierrot, the French-speaking striker from Haifa, is not afraid. “We deserve to be here,” says the Haitian. “It doesn’t matter who the opponent is, in our minds, we’re here to play the best game possible. »

Did you know ?
Paris recently traveled to Israel, since this is where the Trophée des Champions was played. PSG beat Nantes 4-0 in Tel Aviv on July 31. Lionel Messi scored a brace, while Neymar and Sergio Ramos completed the scoreboard.
