The Florida Panthers reportedly fired two of their assistant coaches.

This was reported by the NHL Network on Sunday. Former Swedish defenseman Ulf Samuelsson, who played more than 1,000 games in the National Hockey League, would see his partnership with the Panthers come to an end. He was hired in November 2020.

Derek MacKenzie also reportedly lost his job as an assistant coach. A former NHL pivot, he was Florida’s captain from 2016 to 2018.

It is not yet known whether goaltending coach Rob Tallas, whose contract expires this summer, will be back with the Panthers.

It is also unclear whether general manager Bill Zito will offer a contract to interim head coach Andrew Brunette, who was a finalist for the Jack Adams Trophy, awarded to the best driver on the circuit.

The Panthers had the best regular season in franchise history, winning the Presidents’ Trophy by virtue of a 58-18-6 record. They were however swept in the second round of the playoffs by their great rival, the Tampa Bay Lightning.
