Changzhou is a typical water town in the south of the Yangtze River, with numerous rivers and lakes and dense water networks. Most of the urban rivers are revetments with vertical retaining walls, and the revetments above the normal water level of the river are relatively high, so it is relatively difficult to rescue and rescue those who fall into the water. In response to this situation, in recent years, the Changzhou Water Conservancy Bureau has taken the initiative to solve problems and ensure precise services. It has installed life-saving facilities such as life-saving ladders, life-buoy rings, and life-saving ropes in urban rivers with dense population activities and high and steep revetments. The remaining sets have effectively improved the support for emergency rescue after drowning accidents, thereby effectively protecting people’s lives.

Since the beginning of this year, in order to implement the provincial and municipal requirements on strengthening the construction of protective facilities in waters where water-related police cases and frequent cases occur, and the implementation plan for the city’s river and lake safety protection work, and further improve the efficiency of river and lake safety work, the depth of the two departments of water conservancy and public security Cooperate to strengthen the prevention of drowning in key water areas. Under the personal care of Comrade Yu Guiping, the deputy mayor, director of the Public Security Bureau, and the head of the Beitang River, the Municipal Water Conservancy Bureau and the Municipal Public Security Bureau have studied and deployed the original three-piece life-saving facilities (life buoys) , rope, ladder) on the basis of adding life-saving bamboo poles to further expand the means of wading rescue.

At present, the deployment of life-saving bamboo poles has been fully carried out. In the near future, 470 sets of life-saving bamboo poles will be added to the circle of friends of life-saving facilities in key waters and hydrophilic shore sections of pilot rivers such as the Old Canal, Beitang River, Zaogang River, and South Canal to further improve the quality of life in rivers and lakes. The launching ceremony issued the initiative of “scientific implementation of rescue and care for life-saving facilities” to the general public.
