Chargers beat Raiders in Week 1 at SoFi Stadium

The Chargers defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 24-19 on Sunday night at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, starting their Super Bowl campaign on the right foot. Justin Herbert completed 26 of 34 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns.

Keenan Allen led his team with four catches for 66 yards, although he had to leave early in the game with a hamstring injury. Free agent DeAndre Carter had a strong season debut, rushing for 64 yards and a touchdown.

For the Raiders, Derek Carr completed 22 of 37 passes for 295 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions, while Davante Adams caught 10 passes for 141 yards with a touchdown. Carr also had two fumbles during the match.

Las Vegas’ offense scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter to make things more exciting, but then they turned the ball over on the next possession, which was fatal to their hopes.

The Raiders will host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2. With the Chargers and Chiefs winning in Week 1, the Baddies are going to have to win if they don’t want to fall behind in the division early in the season. For their part, the Chargers will visit the Chiefs on Thursday, September 15, at Arrowhead Stadium.
