Charleroi CPAS: Efficient Data Recovery Strategies for Uninterrupted Social Services

2023-08-22 18:59:53

The Charleroi CPAS has three people in charge of its computer network. The institution has a large number of servers and several backup levels. The general manager does not show any real concern regarding data recovery: “what we are looking for, with our IT specialists, those of the police and those of a specialized company, is the moment when the attack occurred. As soon as we have identified this moment, we will be able to recover the previous data and gradually relaunch our applications”. How long will it take? Days, weeks, a few months… Impossible to say. The 12 social antennas were stopped today. The time to organize the work independently of the computer network: “there will be no or very little impact for our beneficiaries, insists Olivier Jusniaux. For our procedures, it’s a return to the 80s. Fortunately, we had kept our fax network. For the rest, it’s back to the pen, to paper, to the printer… But we are able to make the services work”. All social antennas will be accessible once more this Thursday. Nursing homes, home care services, etc. were not impacted.
