The mayor of Charleroi Paul Magnette delivered Monday evening during the meeting of the Charleroi municipal council an initial assessment of the “disruption” system put in place by the Charleroi police to fight against several forms of crime and different types of incivility.
Launched at the end of August and characterized by a more marked police presence in certain places in the city, the system made it possible, according to the mayor, to carry out 2,391 checks on people and ultimately to make 115 administrative arrests and 62 judicial arrests.
According to Paul Magnette, the system also made it possible to check 3,635 vehicles and note violations on 1,879 of them.
Paul Magnette welcomed these figures. He also indicated that he had received positive feedback from local residents and traders.
