[Sing Tao Daily reported]Chen Tak Fai, the inheritor and chief conductor of the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, passed away yesterday (4th) suspected of having a heart problem. Chen Tak-fai, known as “Brother Hui”, has been the inheritor and chief conductor of the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance since he was in his 20s. He has been “dancing” for 50 years and led the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance to become an intangible cultural heritage. He single-handedly promoted the establishment of ” The Tai Hang Fire Dragon Cultural Center opened in June this year.

The last time Fai performed in front of the public was on November 20 this year, when he led the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance team to perform in Tai Kwun. Zhang Guohao, deputy director of the Tai Hang Welfare Association, will take over as the inheritor and chief conductor of the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance. The Tai Hang Welfare Association will hold a memorial service for Fai later, so that the public can pay their last respects to Fai.
