chicken punishes Mexicans with increase in March

The inflation in Mexico had a slight change when placed in 4.42% in the month of Marchwhich speaks of a stability in this indicator compared to the month of February of this 2024 (4.40%), according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) this Tuesday morning.

Although the inflation practically does not present a significant variation, there was an increase in the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) of 0.29%.

The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), despite the increase in the INPC, food prices decreased. The agricultural products they fell at monthly rate at 0.53%, fruits and vegetables showed a decrease in 3.39 % and the government authorized rates increased by 0.16 %.

However, livestock products, with beef or chickenthey recorded a increase of 2.14%.

The underlying price index, which excludes the prices of agricultural and energy products and tariffs authorized by the government, increased 0.44% at monthly rate and 4.55% at annual rate.

The non-core price index showed a drop of 0.16% monthly and an increase of 4.03% Yearly.

The products and services with the greatest price increase in the month of March were: air transport (28.35%), lettuce and cabbage (18.70%), serrano chili (13.15%) and chicken (8.45%).

For their part, those who fell the most were: nopales (-26.86%), onion (-19.89%), chayote (-13.30%) and tomato (-12.46).
