Kochi: Three persons, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of two children of guest workers from Ernakulam North. Shamsaz (60), Raham Ali (26) and Jahad Ali (26) natives of Assam were arrested. They were arrested by Vadakkera police. Following the information provided from here, these children and another accused, a young woman named Shahida, were detained at the Guwahati airport. A police team went there to bring them to Ernakulam.
The three and five-year-old children of Assam natives living in Vaddakekara Machamthurat area were abducted under the leadership of Shahida. Shahida is also a distant relative of this family. According to the police, the abduction was due to Shahida’s personal problems with her children’s parents.
They were abducted by the accused while they were waiting for the school bus. It is reported that with the help of Jahad Ali, they reached Kochi airport and bought tickets and were going to Guwahati. After the opportune intervention of the police, those who helped in the kidnapping were arrested and the children were found at the Guwahati airport. The accused who were produced in the court were remanded.
