It has been four years since the event was held in Biel. The Children’s Day returned to the old town this Saturday. This free event allows the youngest to discover many activities offered by local companies. In total, some forty partners responded to the call for the new committee.

Because the organization changed hands during this time. Now, five women from French-speaking Switzerland have taken over the reins to bring the event back to life. Among them, Elise Paratte who explains that she took on this challenge so as not to let the event die. “We are friends in life and we share the same values. That’s what made us want to work together and devote our time to a motivating project,” she explains. The five leaders have also created an association called Children’s Day / Kinderfest to take up the torch and are still looking for new members.

As for local companies, those already present at previous editions have once again answered the call. “They were all very happy and motivated to resume this year what they had already put in place,” says Elise Paratte. The program for this 2023 vintage has therefore not been changed. However, the organizers have granted a special place to health professions with the aim in particular of enabling children to overcome certain fears linked to this environment:

As to whether the Children’s Day will return in 2024, it is still too early to say, even if the will among those responsible is there, says Elise Paratte. Setting up such an event is however significant not only in terms of investment but also of budget. 10,000 francs are needed to set up the event. Before deciding, it will be necessary to take stock of the revenue generated by the sales of drinks and food as well as the donations collected. The constitution of an association and the contributions paid by the members, however, gives some breathing space to those responsible, explains Elise Paratte:

In previous years, the Children’s Festival attracted up to 3,000 people to the old town. /amo
