Today the second lowest number of PCR tests was reported for a Tuesday so far in 2022 (38,582), above the 21,305 of January 4. Meanwhile, Ñuble, Los Ríos and O’Higgins registered over 40% positivity and at a national level, 13,928 new cases of covid-19 were detected, which reduced the total number of patients in the active stage of the disease to 98,421.
This Tuesday Chile celebrated ten consecutive days with more than a thousand covid-19 patients in the ICU.
According to the digital balance of the Ministry of Health (Minsal), today there are 1,107 people hospitalized due to the virus.
Of these, 903 are serious and connected to mechanical ventilation (81.57%).
Currently, ICU occupancy is at 93.57% with 2,507 critical beds enabled and 161 free.
If we only take into account the patients with a serious picture of SARS-CoV-2, these represent 47.18% of the ICU.

The Metropolitan region concentrates the majority of the income (535, 48.33%), followed by Bío Bío (106, 9.58%) and Valparaíso (90, 8.13%).
New and active cases
In addition, the Government reported the detection of 13,928 new cases of the disease at the national level.
While 9,239 were classified as symptomatic, 1,172 were considered asymptomatic. 3,517 states did not communicate.
As usual, the MR showed the largest number of new and active cases at the national level (3,171 and 27,242).
With the result of the day, the total number of patients in the active stage went from 112,966 to 98,421.
It is the first time in 30 days that Chile falls below the threshold of 100,000 active patients.
The last time the country had under 100 thousand assets was the January 29when the Minsal reported 29,175 infections, which raised the total number of cases to 99,474.
As for the incidence rate, and unlike yesterday, no area of the country has over a thousand active cases for every 100,000 inhabitants.
Leading the table this day were Los Ríos (965.2), Bío Bío (914.7) and Ñuble (903.4).
At the bottom of the list are Arica and Parinacota (244.1) along with Tarapacá (133.4).
According to official figuresthe variation of new confirmed cases was -19% in one week and -18% in 14 days.
“15 regions have decreased their cases in the last week and 11 in the last 14 days. The only region with an increase in cases is Ñuble”, they indicated from the Minsal in a statement.
“Of the 13,928 new cases, 33% are diagnosed by antigen tests, 30% originate from Active Case Search (BAC) and 11% of those notified are asymptomatic,” they detailed from the portfolio.
Positivity and deaths
Meanwhile, the Minsal indicated that the national positivity of the PCR was set at 24.22%.
That was established after the study of 38,582 coronavirus tests in 134 laboratories.
The number of PCR tests reported today is the second lowest for a Tuesday in 2022, above the 21,305 of January 4.
By region, three zones marked over 40% positivity: Ñuble (43.27%), Los Ríos (42.72%) and O’Higgins (40.56%).

Finally, the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS) added 28 deaths to the national list.
In other words, Chile already accumulates 42,381 deaths linked to the new coronavirus.
