Chile recalls its ambassador to Venezuela for consultation

Chilean President Gabriel Boric announced on Thursday morning that he will call the country’s ambassador to Venezuela for consultation, Jaime Gazmuriafter the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, responded to the complaints of that nation about the impact of the Aragua Train.

Following an event held in Ñuñoa, the President of Chile said that he discussed the possibility of taking such action with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto Van Klaverenwith the acting chancellor, Glory of the Fountain and with the Minister of the Interior, Carolina Toha, reviewed by La Tercera.

His reaction was born from statements made by Gil, who indicated that the Aragua Train “is a fiction created by the international media in an attempt to create a label.”

The official from Nicolás Maduro’s administration blamed Chile: “Ridiculously, there are even videos of people saying ‘we are from the Aragua Train’, with a Peruvian accent, with a Chilean accent”.

In his opinion, “it is about creating a brand.”

For its part, Boric promised on Thursday to evaluate the measures to protect its citizensas well as strengthening this subject in order to lower crime rates.
