The Chillán Municipal Basketball Sports Club proposed this 2024 season to participate in different competitive fronts to consolidate itself as the great reference for basketball sports in the Ñuble Region.
This was confirmed by the coordinator of the adult men’s team, which represents the city in the Second Division of the National Basketball League, Javier Iriondo, who explained that the objectives set are to do a good role in the Second Division of the National League, promote youth basketball competing in the Bío Bío League and getting the women’s team to compete at the federated level.
“One of the great novelties this year is the formation of the sub-11, sub-12, sub-13 and sub-15 categories, men, led by Alexis Jeria and Francisco Arias, the same categories are also maintained in women. , those who are playing in the Bío Bío-Maule Women’s League. In men, we joined the Bío Bío League. In the adult men’s category we are participating in the Second Division of the National League and four days have been played. This weekend we are going to Los Andes and Santiago. to play with Arturo Prat and Club Las Brisas,” Iriondo pointed out.
The honorary squad that plays in the National League is led by the remembered Chilanejo player, who left his mark on the remembered Dimayor, Alfredo Aliste, and his technical assistant is Robert Lagos.
Iriondo stressed that they now set out to register the women’s team in the Second Division of the National League. “We are waiting for the selection of clubs that they leave. We will have news soon,” Iriondo said.
Municipal Chillán also made official its entry into the Chilean Basketball Federation. This will allow their young people to compete in federated tournaments and be considered for national teams and federative championships.
“There are promises that will give Chilanejo basketball a promising future. Thanks to the support of the Municipality of Chillán and its Sports Directorate, we have been able to continue with this project and we hope it will continue over time,” he concluded.
