Beijing: China is going through the worst drought it has ever seen. All major rivers in China have dried up. It is in this situation that China relies on artificial rainfall to deal with drought. Last summer, temperatures in the US and Europe rose significantly. Many countries are facing crises including water shortages due to heat waves. The situation is the same in China. Chinese authorities have declared a red alert or weather emergency after the temperature has been continuously recorded above 40 degrees Celsius. Different parts of China have been in almost the same situation for the last 63 days. When there was no sign of rain, the authorities decided to send artificial rain.

This year, only 45 percent of the rains have been received in China. Dongting and Poyang, two important lakes that feed the Yangtze, are at their lowest water levels in history. Agriculture is also in crisis due to water scarcity.

Factories are also in crisis due to severe drought. Water scarcity has affected the functioning of factories. And a large share of China’s energy comes from hydroelectric projects. Due to the stoppage of water flow, the production of electricity has decreased and the activities of the factories have been stopped.
