BEIRUT, Jan. 19, 2022 (Xinhua) Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Qian Minjian stressed on Wednesday that China is preparing for a remarkable, outstanding and outstanding Olympic Games that will inject more unity, confidence and strength to the world.
Ambassador Qian made the remarks during a meeting with the President of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, Boutros Galakh, according to a statement by the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon.
The statement said that during the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on preparations and arrangements for the prevention of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) for the Beijing Winter Olympics and the preparations of Lebanese athletes to participate in the tournament.
During the meeting, Ambassador Qian said that China is preparing for a wonderful, outstanding and outstanding Olympic Games for all countries in the world, including Lebanon.
He added that the tournament will inject more unity, confidence and strength to the world, wishing the Lebanese athletes participating in the tournament success.
He stressed that the success of the Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics in Beijing is a serious promise made by China to the international community.
He noted that basically all the preparatory work has been completed, and the final preparation phase has begun 20 days before the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Ambassador Qian said that China is willing to become a good host, and implement scientific and improved prevention and control measures for COVID-19 to ensure the health and safety of all participants in the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In turn, the President of the Lebanese Olympic Committee expressed his high appreciation for the great efforts made by the Chinese side to host the Winter Olympics and the arrangements for the prevention of (Covid-19).
Galakh said that the Olympic spirit is the common spiritual wealth of mankind, and that the Winter Olympics is the most sought-after event by all snow sports athletes around the world.
He believed that the Beijing Winter Olympics will bring hope and joy to all the peoples of the world in light of the spread of (Covid-19), stressing that the Lebanese athletes are looking forward to traveling to China to participate in the Games, wishing the session a complete success.
The head of the Lebanese Olympic Committee stressed that the Lebanese side opposes any attempt to politicize sports.
