China’s National Meteorological Center (NMC) maintained an orange alert for torrential rain on Sunday, with heavy rain expected to fall in parts of the country.
From Sunday evening to Monday evening, heavy rain and rainstorms are expected in parts of Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang, the center forecast.
In particular, parts of Guangdong will experience torrential rains reaching between 100 and 180 mm, according to the CMN.
Local governments have been asked to cut off dangerous outdoor electricity sources and suspend outdoor work.
The center also suggested taking drainage measures where necessary in urban areas and agricultural lands, while guarding once morest potential disasters such as mountain torrents, landslides and mudslides.
China has a four-color coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe level, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
