BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) — China will take various measures to ensure it achieves the goals set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), an official said Tuesday.

China is halfway through implementing the plan and has laid a solid foundation to ensure a strong start to building a modern all-round socialist country, said Zheng Shanjie, head of the National Development and Development Commission. reform, in an interim evaluation report presented to the current session of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, China’s top legislature.

Looking ahead, challenges include an imperfect long-term mechanism for increasing residents’ consumption, high levels of pollutants and carbon emissions, and the coexistence of insufficient provision of public services and partial misallocation of resources, Mr. Zheng continued.

To achieve these goals, China will take a series of measures such as increasing domestic demand, ensuring accelerated recovery and stable growth of the economy, and deepening market-oriented reform and institutional opening-up, according to the report. END
