China’s dominance in the solar panel supply chain

From the production of polysilicon to the welding of prefabricated solar cells and modules to the panels, China holds the largest share in every stage of solar panel manufacturing. Even in 2010, the country manufactured the majority of the world’s solar panels, but over the past 12 years, its average share in the solar panel supply chain has risen from 55% to 84%. China also continues to lead in terms of investment, accounting for nearly two-thirds of global investment in large-scale solar energy.
