Chinese ships enter disputed islands in East China Sea

Japan’s Kyodo news agency reported that four patrol ships of the Chinese maritime police arrived in the area of the disputed Senkaku Islands, located in the East China Sea. The publication emphasized that Japan considers this territory to be its territorial waters.

It is specified that the Japanese side sent a warning to the Chinese ships and demanded to immediately leave this zone. Among other things, the Maritime Safety Administration added that PRC ships have been near the above islands for the past 20 days.

Recall that in 2012, Tokyo announced the purchase of the Senkaku Islands from private owners. After this decision, mass demonstrations of protest took place in the PRC.
