Square Enix announces that it is quietly but surely withdrawing its support for the game Chocobo Gp, a spin-off from the Final Fantasy series and a sequel to Chocobo Racing released in 1999. The game available on the Nintendo Switch does not will therefore no longer receive any major updates including new characters or new circuits. Square Enix has also stopped the sale of Mythril, the currency used directly in the game. If you are a Chocobo Gp player and still have Mythril, you will have until January 6, 2023 to spend it.

However, the game as such remains playable for players who still wish to enjoy it. Square Enix announces that it will withdraw its support for Chocobo GP only 9 months after the official release of the game on Nintendo Switch, so we can conclude that the game probably has not been a hit. This decision does not appear to affect the mobile version of Chocobo GP available on Android and iOS.

The rather peculiar racing game allows players to play as characters from the Final Fantasy franchise like a Chocobo (of course), Cid, Terra Branford, Vivi and more. You also have the possibility of launching magic attacks on your opponents during the races, a bit like using items in Mario Kart. On the other hand, the game obtained an audience rating of 2.1/10 on Metacritic, so it is to be purchased at your own risk.
