The sound of Christmas in the Alps
This program is a musical journey at Christmas time along the enchanting winter Tyrolean Pitztal. The quiet time of the year is welcomed with traditional folk music and Advent customs. With visually stunning mountain panoramas, local personalities and thoughts to make you pause. On the way, this edition of “Our Austria” meets Andreas and his little son Philipp from Jerzens, who cut down their Christmas tree from their own forest every year. With the amount of snow in the Pitztal, this can be a real adventure. In the village of Wenns, countless nativity scenes are put on display at Christmas time, as this is the home of the oldest nativity scene association in the world. On the carriage ride through the winter, a detour is made to visit an alpaca family that lives on a mountain farm. The crowning conclusion of the program is the Christmas song that conquered the world from Salzburg: Silent Night, Holy Night.
