The British love Christmas. An integral part is wearing a Christmas sweater – the Christmas Jumper. Christmas has become a more recent but no less important tradition for the British. Supermarket chains and department stores fight for their customers’ attention with expensively produced clips. This season, however, from a pub in Northern Ireland surprisingly took over social media. It shows an older man walking lonely through the streets of a city. It’s only when he stops by a pub decorated for Christmas that his day takes a turn for the better. The video ends with the saying: “There are no strangers, only friends you haven’t met yet.” The British shared the spot thousands of times. Una Burns, manager of Charlie’s Bar in the Northern Irish town of Enniskillen, said she wanted to create an advert that would resonate with people. She described the response as overwhelming.
