The Catholic and Protestant churches which had contested the choice and the investiture of the current members of the Independent National Electoral Commission are back on the front of the stage. This Wednesday, March 9, 2022, the two religious denominations met the President of the National Assembly, Christophe Mboso, while the debate on the electoral law should open in the coming weeks. For the Catholic and Protestant churches, all options that could cause a postponement of the elections must be ruled out.
After the publication in February of the Ceni’s roadmap, the president of the electoral institution had mentioned constraints that may cause the postponement of the general elections of 2023. The churches want to avoid a postponement of the ballot, as explained Monsignor Donatien N’shole, Secretary General of the Congolese Episcopate, to our correspondent Pascal Mulegwa.
