A James Bond car sold for three million francs at auction
The Christie’s house organized a charity auction to celebrate the sixty years of James Bond in the cinema.
A replica of the Aston Martin DB5, which was used for the James Bond stunts “No Time To Die” (“Dying can wait”), sold on Wednesday for nearly three million pounds at auction, during a sale charity which has raised over six million pounds.
The fruits of this sale, organized by Christie’s to celebrate sixty years of James Bond in the cinema, reached 6,103,500 pounds sterling (6,483,200 francs) for 25 lots, according to the official James Bond Twitter account @ 007.
The funds collected are intended for 45 associations, including the foundation of Prince Charles – before he became king with the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8 – or Doctors Without Borders.
Online auctions
Sold for 2.922 million pounds sterling (3.10 million francs), the replica of DB5, the emblematic model of 007, is one of eight copies specially designed and manufactured for the filming of the feature film made in 2021 and the only one stunt car so far offered for sale by Aston Martin and EON productions, according to Christie’s.
Another Aston Martin, a V8 model from the early 1980s also appearing in “Dying Can Wait”, was sold for 630,000 pounds (670,000 euros), a third, a recent DBS Superleggera, for 403,000 pounds ( more than 428,000 euros).
Other items on sale also included costumes and accessories related to the famous saga. At the same time, 36 other lots were auctioned online from September 15 to October 5.
