The Criminal Investigation Service in the province of Uíge recently detained a citizen who administered traditional medication to terminate a pregnancy, which resulted in the death of his girlfriend. The 57-year-old citizen is being charged with the crime of terminating a pregnancy due to intoxication, as he administered substances that have not yet been identified, which resulted in the victim’s death.

The incident occurred in the village of Cavua in the municipality of Puri, at a time when the unfortunate woman (the accused’s girlfriend) was approximately 3 months pregnant, and with the intention of terminating the pregnancy, she went to meet her boyfriend. “According to preliminary information, this citizen administered an unidentified traditional medicine that caused the death of his girlfriend who in life was called Julieta Oliveira António, 32 years old,” said Zacarias Fernando, spokesperson for SIC-Uíge .

In another case, the same investigation service in that province detained two citizens, aged 40 and 46, for kidnapping two minors, aged 12 and 16. The accused allegedly abducted the minors from the village headquarters in the municipality of Maquela do Zombo, where, according to the accused’s allegations, the victims were handed over to a third party (a fugitive), with the intention of being taken to the Republic of Namibia, where they will be sold . The SIC in Uíge continues with efforts to arrest the other person involved, as well as rescue the minors and return them to family life.
