Since 1925, the City Council Grand Prize (G.2) highlights the trotting meetings at the Vichy-Belleville racecourse. This year it will take place on Tuesday July 4th. The eighth race on the program, it closes the second day of the Center-East trotting festival (20th edition). This Grand Prize is the most important race of the whole week of the festival since it is the only event labeled Black-Type. Horses from 4 to 10 years old will set off over 2,950m and the winner will succeed the Parisian Elie de Beaufour.

In Vichy, the season will bring together 40 meetings between May 3 and September 26, including 22 at the trot and 18 at the gallop. In addition, eight days will support Quinté+. The festival will open its doors on Monday July 3 at 6:15 p.m. at night and will conclude on Saturday July 8, still at night, with the Speed Cup. For lovers of galloping, the fsummer gallop will take place from July 17 to 22 with two major events: the seventh stage of the Gallop Challenge Tuesday, July 18 and Vichy Grand Prix on Wednesday, July 19, support for Quinté+ of the day.

This year, the defending champion, Elie de Beaufour will start this City Council Grand Prize, associated with crack Jean-Michel Bazire. Record holder of the event, the latter is the winner of seven of the last ten editions. Among the other competitors this year, Gypsy et Oracle Tile will represent the training of Thierry Duvaldestin. In a well composed lot this year, Oracle Tile seems to come off as the favorite of the event. Remaining on a third place in the René Balliere Prize (Gr.1), this son of Ready Cash makes the trip to the Center-East for the first time, leaving his favorite trail: the Parisian cinder. Among the challengers, Ideal of the Pommeau will return for Sébastien Guarato. No longer seen on the track since his disqualification in December 2022, he cannot be ruled out given his latest performances at Group level. Let’s also mention Eric The Eeltitle holder of Harper Hanovers, one of the great races of the weekend of l’Elite race in Sweden.
