Ciudad Modelo Program: Guadalupe City Council Earns Certification for Responsible Alcohol Consumption and Sales

Zacatecas, Zac.- Committed to social welfare through the promotion of responsible alcohol consumption and the prohibition of the sale of intoxicating beverages to minors, workers and public servants of the Guadalupe City Council chaired by José Saldívar Mayor, received a certification for having completed the ‘Responsible Challenge’ course through the Ciudad Modelo program carried out in conjunction with Grupo Modelo and the AB INBEV Association.

They were workers from the Social Welfare Secretariat, the Undersecretary for Social Prevention, Violence and Crime of the Municipality of Guadalupe; the Ministry of Finance and the Municipal Youth Department; who received training on the basics of the effects alcohol abuse has on the body and mind, as well as national, state, and local laws on the sale and service of alcohol, establishment policies, and procedures regarding for sale of alcohol.

For his part, Zeus Santoyo de la Rosa, Operations Manager of the Ab InBev Foundation, highlighted that there is a collaboration with the Guadalupe City Council since the signing of the agreement held in 2022, where in addition to these certifications, a monthly visit to establishments is established. authorized in the sale of alcohol, under the ‘Mystery Shopper’ program.

Through this program, data is collected such as hours and dates of operation, establishment information, whether the establishment requested and examined the buyer’s identification, whether it denied or authorized the sale of alcohol according to whether the buyer proves to be of legal age. and if the business has adequate signage on the non-sale of alcohol to minors.

“Since this agreement was signed with the Municipal Presidency of Guadalupe, we have obtained important results by significantly reducing the number of businesses that sell alcohol to minors,” explained Santoyo de la Rosa.

With these actions, the Guadalupe City Council endorses its commitment to work hand in hand with the different government agencies and the private sector; with the firm objective of contributing to the health and social well-being of Guadeloupe families.
