“Classical music for everyone”: Concert with the Wels Municipal Symphony Orchestra
The Wels Symphony Orchestra has developed into a sophisticated orchestra, particularly over the past 20 years, whose concerts are considered special cultural events. The symphonic concerts, the New Year’s Eve gala and the concerts for young and old are extremely popular with the Wels audience. The Wels Symphony Orchestra is a valuable representative of the city of Wels during various guest performances at the Brucknerhaus Linz and abroad. The orchestra was founded in 1948 and, alongside the Stadtmusik Wels, is one of the city administration’s two official orchestras. Like all other clubs, the members work on a voluntary basis. Since 1971, Walter Rescheneder, who has also conducted the Stadtmusik Wels since 1969, has directed the “Welser Symphoniker”. The “Classic for All” concert features two well-known works of symphonic orchestral literature on the program: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Symphony No. 36 (Linz Symphony), conducted by Martina Franke and the concert for cello and orchestra with Walter Rescheneder at the conductor’s podium. Eva Kögler can be heard as a soloist: The recipient of the “Prix Talentis” from the Kiwanis Club Wels is studying at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz and is currently preparing for the bachelor’s exam.
