Clean sound with high power

I received the Xboom XG9 Power speaker from LG, a recent model launched by LG that promises to deliver high quality sound and plenty of volume, it has a modern, robust design, like a large speaker that people take to the beach and in the parties to put sound. It has stage lighting to liven up the party and is water resistant. In this review you will see everything about it, what it can do, what is the sound capacity, connectivity, lighting configuration and finally I will evaluate how much would be the ideal value for you to pay for it. I’m Nicolas Muller, I used the Xboom XG9 Power for a few weeks and this is my review here at Oficina da Net.

LG Xboom XG9 Power Review

Design

Design da LG XG9

The LG XBOOM Go XG9 has a robust and elegant design with dimensions of 52 cm wide by 24 cm high and 19 cm thick, the weight of 7.1 Kg. It is water and dust resistant with an IP67 rating, making it ideal for outdoor use.

The speaker has a matte black finish, with a front grille that protects its two speakers: two woofers that add up to 80W and a 40W compression tweeter. LG XBOOM Go XG9 also has a button tab for controlling the box.

sound quality

With its two powerful speakers, the LG XBOOM Go XG9 offers incredible sound quality. The 80W woofer and 40W tweeter produce crisp, balanced sound with deep bass and clear highs. The sound is powerful enough to fill a large room or outdoor area without distortion. LG has created a bass enhancement algorithm and professional compression tweeter that really make the sound very clean, there is no treble aggressiveness, something that annoys me a lot, for this reason I really liked the sound produced.

connectivity

Connectivity of the LG XG9
Connectivity of the LG XG9

The LG XBOOM Go XG9 features Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, allowing you to easily connect your mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. In addition, it also has a 3.5 mm auxiliary input, for connecting devices without Bluetooth, and a USB-A port that can be used as a power bank to charge your devices while you listen to your music.

additional resources

LG XBOOM Go XG9 also has interesting additional features. It has the “Party Link” function, which allows you to connect up to 9 compatible LG speakers and create an even more immersive sound experience. The problem is that although LG has several speakers of different models, I couldn’t connect any of them, only the identical models are able to connect, this is a problem, after all who is going to buy two of these speakers?

In addition, the speaker has a rechargeable battery that offers up to 24 hours of continuous music playback, if you use up to 50% of the total volume and lights off. In our tests, we left it playing for hours and during these almost three weeks of tests, I loaded it before starting the analysis and only once afterwards. It must have been approximately 20 hours playing at volume between 40 to 70% with the lighting on. It was now displaying information it was supposed to load.

Lighting

There are two ways of lighting in the box. Stage lighting, which is a globe of colored lights that you can customize using the LG Xboom App, and studio lighting, where passive radiators are given the color you choose in the app.

Price and how much is it worth paying?

The Xboom Go XG9 hit the market costing R$2699, a price to compete directly with the JBL Boombox 3. The two boxes are similar in size, sound power and prices. JBL has 1 woofer of 60W + 2 midrange drivers of 30W each and 2 tweeters of 8W each, totaling 136W RMS, if added together. LG’s box has 1 80W woofer and one 40W tweeter, totaling 120W RMS.

The difference between them is due to the lighting, personal taste for the brand and the idea of paying a little less, yes the LG is priced at R$ 1999 on the day we recorded this video, while the JBL R$ 2,448.
