2023-08-04 09:34:00

Athlete Clémence Calvin and her husband Samir Dahmani spent Wednesday and Thursday in police custody in Marseille, according to information from The Teamwhich we are able to confirm.

Suspended for four years in 2019 by the French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD) for evading doping control at the end of March 2019 in Marrakech (Morocco), Clémence Calvin, 33, will theoretically be authorized to resume competition in end of the year.

However, the cross-country skier and her husband, Samir Dahmani, also suspended for complicity in an anti-doping rule violation, have been heard in recent days by the Central Office for the Fight against Damage to the Environment and Public Health (OCLAESP ) as part of an investigation opened by the Marseille public health center in March 2019 for “breaches of the legislation on doping products”. This is the first time the couple has been interviewed by investigators. Other witnesses have also been called in connection with this case.

In Marrakech, on March 27, 2019, the athlete had, according to the AFLD, fled in the middle of the street with the complicity of Dahmani to escape an anti-doping control carried out by the French Agency. She then claimed to have taken fright in front of the sample collectors whom she would have taken for police officers.

In April 2019, OCLAESP carried out a search of the couple’s home in Martigues, just before Calvin’s French record at the Paris marathon – record subsequently canceled.

Subsequently, Calvin and Dahmani brought the case before the Council of State, which however confirmed in September 2020 their four-year suspension.
