Climate bonus: Long queues form in front of Vienna’s post offices

Because many people receive the climate bonus as a Sodexo voucher, long queues form in front of the post office. There may also be longer waiting times in the approximately 90 post offices in Vienna. In order to relieve the burden here, Austrian Post is increasing its workforce by an additional 70 employees.

VIENNA. The wave of payments of the climate and anti-inflation bonus totaling 500 euros is coming to an end. As of Friday, October 7th, the payments, which go directly to the bank account, have been completed according to the Ministry of Climate Protection.

For people in Austria who have no current account details, or who may not actually have an account, receive the climate bonus in the form of Sodexo vouchers. The vouchers will be sent to you by post as an RSa letter. The delivery of these letters began as early as September 7th.

123,000 climate bonus letters still outstanding

As of Friday, around ten percent of the RSa letters with Sodexo vouchers – i.e. around 123,000 letters across Austria – were still outstanding. Everything should be settled here by the middle of the month. In the meantime, longer queues form in front of Vienna’s post offices to pick up the vouchers.

In order to relieve the work colleagues at the counter, the Austrian Post in Vienna has increased staff – there are around 70 additional employees. “We also have personnel reserves, of course they were all used. We have suspended training, seminars are not taking place,” says Post spokesman Michael Homola, describing the situation in “Vienna Today”. Sales managers, for example, would also currently be helping out at the counters.
