Climate policy and the digital transition should be the trophies of Ursula von der Leyen’s first term in office. However, in the final spurt before the European elections, her team is weakening.
Brussels. Margrethe Vestager is having fun these days. In the third season of the television satire “Parliament” she finally gets to play herself in one scene. “When is your appointment?” the former Danish vice-president of the European Commission asks one of her pregnant interns. “In three months,” she replied, in order to make a bold move with her counter question: “And yours?” In 20 months, says Vestager alias Vestager following the misunderstanding has been resolved, “it is a competitive process, a big one.”
