One of the biggest surprises at last month’s Xbox Games Showcase was that veteran RPG developer Inxile Entertainment (The Bard’s Tale, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Wasteland 3) announced their first game since becoming part of Xbox Game Studios in 2018. The Xbox Project new game is of course also an RPG, and it has a steampunk setting. Many people think it looks a lot like BioShock and Singularity, which of course is a very good example. Now, game director Chad Moore has taken to Twitter to detail the game and give us some ideas of what to expect by revealing his inspiration. He said we should expect “deep world-building, compelling narrative, crispy RPG systems, engaging gameplay and great reactivity,” explaining that he “has been describing @ClockworkGame as” Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Interestingly, Moore himself worked on both RPGs, so it seems like he’s returning to something he actually loves. Both games are known for deep narratives and decisions that can really change the outcome of your adventures. All of this combined with games built exclusively for PC and Xbox Series S/X, Microsoft’s money really raised our already high expectations. Are you looking forward to Clockwork Revolution?
